Where to Go in Dearborn to Escape the Heat

City pools and public buildings offer relief as temperatures in Dearborn creep toward 100 degrees.

Temperatures this week are looking to break some records, but you don't have to spend all day in front of your AC unit to stay cool.

The city of Dearborn offers several options for staying cool, indoors and outdoors.

  • Henry Ford Centennial Library, 16301 Michigan Ave. Open Monday-Thursday 9:30 a.m.-8:30 p.m., Friday, 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Closed Saturday and Sunday.

Six of Dearborn's community pools are also open.

Dunworth Pool at Levagood Park offers open swimming weekdays and holidays from 1-8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 12-8 p.m.

Dearborn’s other five currently operating outdoor pools–Crowley, Lapeer, Summer Stephens, Ford Woods and Ten Eyck–offer open swimming daily from 1-6 p.m.

All swimmers must either pay a daily admission fee or purchase a seasonal pool tag.

The daily admission fee is $8 for Dearborn residents and $10 for non-residents at Dunworth and $6 for residents and $9 for non-resident at the other pools. Proof of residency is required.

For information on buying a pool tag, check out this list of rates and information on Dearborn Patch.
