Dearborn is not about art it is about safe communities that are provided exceptional city services, none of the above art choices are worth the tax dollars spent on them.

I often disagree with Frank's postings, but he nailed this one. The city should get out of the arts business. I've seen several shows at the performing arts center and they were all terrible, third or fourth-string performances. The only thing I think the city does right when it comes to the performing arts (if the city is actually involved...) is the city hall concert series featuring local musicians, and even then, I can only take one performance per year of Alexander Zonjic and this year he's playing twice. You can see far better performances in small local venues than the C and D-listers who are bussed into the theater. Great building that rarely realizes its potential as an entertainment venue. I saw a "national" big band show there once and remember thinking that I've seen better musicians in the HFCC big band. Of the choices in the survey, I'd have to say that the Dearborn Players Guild is the best choice for reasons that have less to do with quality of performance and more to do with community. Nevertheless, tax dollars shouldn't be spent to subsidize it (if any are). Why would you pay to see a hack performance at the performing arts center when you can drive downtown in 20 minutes and see quality shows in more professional venues?
God help our ears and eyes when the low-rent "art colony" comes to pass. We're going to be subsidizing the bejesus out of everyone's pet artists and pet projects then. Can't wait for "Orvie: The Musical".

You make a good point, Dan - the Headspace Gallery should be on this list. I'm adding it now. You have until 9 a.m. tomorrow to get the votes to win!

Players Guild of Dearborn. (Which receives no tax dollars by the by.)
"Frank" : What an inane trolling comment. I suggest that you should go to Dick Blicks, buy some paint and go crazy on a canvas to get that frustration out constructively.

The complainers plainly haven't been to some of the orchestra concerts at the FCPAC. I have only been to a few, but those have been high quality, enjoyable entertainment, and as a musician for 30 years, I have always been glad I attended. If you don't like the shows you attend, that's your business, but please don't try to paint them all with the same brush.
