Vic's Casual Dining in Southgate has excellent homemade soups. They always have minestrone and they have a different featured soup every week. This week it's going to be potato/mushroom. Their sausage tortellini soup a couple of weeks ago was out of this world good.

I also have to give props to Mac's Party Store in Wyandotte. They have a different soup featured for lunch everyday and they are very good.

All this talk of good soup is making me hungry. (In all fairness, it's about lunch time anyway :) I love Genitti's Italian wedding soup in Northville.

I gotta agree with Les. Polish Village blows Polonus to the weeds for real Polish food. I find Polonus to be VERY bland and ordinary but they do make a great old school Chicken Noodle that's GREAT comfort when you're sick.

Kyle's Corn beef on Michigan ave, the one closer to Toledo ave downtown.
Been there since the 30's, ten stools to sit on. Watch him cut massive ham sandwiches off of a huge ham, and ladle out the best bean or split pea soup you can imagine. Also sells it by the gallon. Lunch only. for this suggestion. Other times only if you carry......rough area.
