southerlands fish and chips, used to be at 7 mile and middlebelt, they would buy whole fresh hallibut, would cut up in the basement, then upstairs in the dinning room was their open kitchen, that was the best

Brown's was great. These days the Friday Fish Fry at Howell's is where it's at. Hand cut fries, great slaw and a healthy sized portion of beautifully battered fish.

Frank's Cafe used to be the best in Wyandotte. If I want a good fish fry now I go to the American Legion in downtown Trenton.

I couldn't agree more. Frank's was it, hands down. Now it's just a well lit crack house.

That was who I was going to mention. Scottys has been in their same NW Detroit location on Fenkell for more than 60 years! Guess that tells you how good their fish & chips and coleslaw is. The coleslaw is like no other anywhere. I am typically not a coleslaw eater but here I order double!

Dows Village Inn Best Walleye deal Downriver

A hidden gem for Friday walleye dinners. Wow $ 6 gets you 3 large pcs of walleye,,redskins and coleslaw with fresh bread. A old-time bar going back fifty years. Swinging doors a juke box with songs from the 60's and 70's,pool table and shuffle board. The dark panel walls and low lights take you back in time in this Lincoln Park classic shot and beer bar. Mary Dow cooks the fish to perfection. The only bar with no front door or sign out front. These are mostly locals who've know about this place for year's no ads needed just spread the word. Only on Friday you can get fish the other day burgers and fries which are OK. Parking in the rear where the little sign is.

VIC'S CASUAL DINING on Dix in Southgate has a GREAT fish fry and a terrific lenten menu. They have several different seafood specials that are all are very original and excellent and their clam chowder is TO DIE FOR. I've also had SPORTS BAR and GRILL in Wyandotte and BROOKLYN'S in Wyandotte and they were both very good as far as the cod was concerned.

Hey, Bob. We accepted nominations for several days to give everyone a chance to nominate their favorites. That part is history now, though, as we're now onto the voting round. Take a look at the actual voting page (http://patch.com/A-rtfG) and share it with your friends to make sure your favorite place wins. Happy eating!
