Have the police department crack down on people that commit traffic violations. Violator's are causing major accidents that cause permanent physical damages to people.
I drive 40,000 miles a year and if i put a camera on my windshield and start recording its just sad to see so many reckless drivers.. when you call the police they don't even care to send someone.

I'd like to see some other kinds of viable businesses in Dearborn. Places where you can shop for unique things or clothes. Something that would STAY. I'd also like to see some other type of restaurants than Middle Eastern and coney islands. We need a DIVERSE neighborhood. I'd also like to see old homes in Dearborn protected and not knocked down so these big monstrosities can be built. Having a great big home right next to a small one is just wrong. I'm surprised the city allows it.

Dearborn needs a dog park and they need to lift the restriction that dogs are not allowed at camp Dearborn. All state camp grounds and most private allow pets. Most people are considerate and clean up after their dogs these days. I believe more people would go to camp Dearborn and every dog owner would love a dog park.

I would likw to see Dearborn do something about the rairoad underpasses. They are all rusting and crumbling concrete, eyesores. Rairoad property is grown up in weeds and no one seems to have the responsibility to clean it up. Outer Drive is better now;lets do something with the railroads.

I would like to see Michigan Ave slowed down, a traffic jam of potential shoppers in cars waiting for the hundreds of shoppers jaywalking the street to get to all the new unique shops. Every other shop will have a bike rack. Hot dog vendors will be on the sidewalks. Folk from around the world will flock to Dearborn via the train, which, in another miracle, is on time 4 out of 5 times a day.

I'd love to see a new mayor and 5 new council members.

These are all really interesting ideas! Keep them coming. Personally, my wish would be a more vibrant west downtown with more small, unique, locally owned businesses, like a dog biscuit bakery, a candy store, a tea store, and a clothing boutique.

my wish would be to one day just one day go out and not almost die because some other person has no morals or respect for the laws of the street. it has really gotten out of control even if you know how to drive and are doing everything correct you still get hit or worse.

Hey Jessica...why is it you don't have any ideas for a more vibrant EAST Dearborn? I hear so much here and in the Dearborn papers about out city leaders always wanting to improve things, but why are their ideas always for the west end? How much development have we had to provide more interest in the east end other than converting the old Montgomery Wards sire into a huge clinic. That sure isn't going to provide foot traffic there. Every ide I hear about is for the west end. It's like our leaders don't recognize that our city limits expand to the east all the way to Wyoming. I don't see any farmers market idea, Dearborn Garden Club activity, art shows, etc. for the east end...it's ALWAYS the west side. That''s a shame.

A new use for the old city hall, say independent art folk and a restaurant, would be a great change, and that is happening. Actually, that is about as big a deal as the train station, as folk will constantly visit the Art folk and see whats new. Perhaps trolleys to link East and West Dearborn together, with attachments for carrying bikes.

How about just cleaning the east end up as a whole? It's getting to look pretty seedy. I watched Under the Radar when they did a program on SW Detroit and I have to say I was very surprised of what's in my town that I didn't even know about. Perhaps we could take a page from their book and do something original like that area.

We need a lot more focus on conditions in the eat ane of town. Bitsy, I agree with you about just cleaning up. Many of the conditions in our east end business area need cleaning up. Business owners who do not shovel snow from the sidewalks in front or back of their doors and don'tr keep their exterior properly maintained should be ticketed. We have neighborhood field inspectors that do the same in residential districts. The Economic and Community Development department is responsible for our business districts but has not done what they are chartered to do in this regard. And, the city parking lots in the east end are horrible with deteriorating road surface, weeds sprouting up in the summertime, exposed and impropery maintained trash dumpsters. Just look at parking areas in the west end and compare them to what you see in the east end. The difference is eye opening and should not be tolerated. Our city leaders need to get in their cars and look at the conditions and begin to make some improvements to bring the east end up to the standards they have insisted upon in the west end!

Also, let's bring the farmers market to the east end. I think the setting in the city hall park would be perfect. Lots of visibility, lots of room and lots of FREE parking too. Or, how bout in Ford Woods park? Again, lots of room and a lot of free parking and adjacent to a major thoroughfare. How about Art in the Park being brought to the east end. City Hall or Ford Woods park again would be perfect settings.

Also...remember Winterfest that was held for such a short time in the east end? Let's bring it back again.

What's wrong with doing the farmer's market and Art in the Park in BOTH the east and west end? Just because it's done in one doesn't mean it can't be done on another day in the other end. I think the farmers would probably love to have two venues to sell their product(s). We could also bring in the food trucks as they did last year for all these venues; not just for a dinner night. As to the farmers market, Wayne has one on Wednesdays from something like 1-7 p.m., which to me is a MUCH better time for all to be able to get to the market(s) than the times Dearborn has chosen to have theirs. I think to be good neighbors, we need to pick two days other than Wednesday. What about free music in the parks? When I lived in Royal Oak and they had free concerts in the park, so many people came. The food trucks could be there, too. Or even have Dearborn restaurants set up tents to sell food. I know Westborn was supposed to have a food truck at the last food truck gathering I went to but they weren't there. Also, craft shows. I believe that's what Art in the Park is but I would like to see a "juried" show. It seems that so much of the stuff sold is what "grannie" or "auntie" can make. I want to buy original, unique things. If we could bring in Michigan artists and artisans, it would be wonderful.
