It's the end of the week. You're bored. You want something to do. Dearborn, you've come to the right place.
Here are some of the highlights of the weekend.
1. DEARBORN AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF UNIVERSITY WOMEN USED BOOK SALE
Where/When: Dearborn Ice Skating Center, 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Thursday-Friday; 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday.
Why Go: Find that great book you have been looking for, or unearth an unexpected literary treasure. Even better–all monies raised benefit community scholarships and educational programs.
Pricing: Thursday's early bird special is $15 per person; Saturday is bag day, $8 for one bag or $15 for two.
2. NO BEAST FEAST ANIMAL BENEFIT
Where/When: Park Place Banquet Hall, 23400 Park. St., Dearborn, 6-10 p.m. Friday.
Why Go: Enjoy a night of vegetarian food, beer, wine, entertainment, door prizes, raffles and auction items all for the purpose of raising awareness and money for the Dearborn Animal Shelter. Also be sure to check out their Bully Splash Bash 11 a.m. on Saturday in Romulus.
Pricing: $45 in advance; $50 at the door
3. DEARBORN POLICE CHARITY BALL
Where/When: Hyatt Regency; 6 p.m. Saturday.
Why Go: Hosted by the Police Officers Charities, this 10th anniversary event will include a silent auction, dinner, live music and dancing. All proceeds benefit supported charities.
Pricing: Sponsorships range from $100-2,500.
4. SURA ARTS ACADEMY STUDENT PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION RECEPTION
Where/When: Arab American National Museum, 12-2 p.m. Saturday.
Why Go: See artwork and films by Dearborn and Detroit students while enjoying live music and refreshments. The exhibit runs through Nov. 27.
Pricing: Free with museum admission, which is $6 for adults; $3 for students, seniors and children 6-12; free for children ages 5 and younger.
5. HALFWAY TO ST. PATRICK'S DAY FUNDRAISER
Where/When: O'Kelly Banquet Hall, 6 p.m.-midnight Friday
Why Go: St. Patty's in September? Why not. Drink green beer, enjoy a buffet-style dinner and help raise funds for the Dearborn Firefighters Burn Drive. Call 313-743-8153 for tickets.
Pricing: $30
