Here are some of the highlights of the week.
1. DEARBORN ANIMAL SHELTER OPEN HOUSE
Where/When: The Dearborn Animal Shelter, 12-3 p.m. Saturday
Why Go: Learn about the work of the shelter, and meet some great new adoptable animals. An offsite adoption event will also be held from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Friends For the Dearborn Animal Shelter Training Center at 2621 S. Telegraph Road.
Pricing: Free to attend, with donations accepted
Where/When: Knights of Columbus, Fr. Patrick O'Kelley Council #3860, 5-8 p.m. Sunday
Why Go: The public is welcome at this monthly cookout, with food, live entertainment and desserts made by area youth groups.
Pricing: $10
Where/When: Ford Community and Performing Arts Center, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday
Why Go: The Dearborn Senior Center will include pizza, snacks and prizes during the tournament.
Pricing: $7, with registration required by Aug. 19
Where/When: Summer-Stephens Pool, 3-8 p.m. Thursday
Why Go: To help raise funds for the pools while enjoying the last days of summer with friends and community members. Floaties welcome after 6 p.m.
Pricing: $2.50 per person, or free for Floatie Pass holders.
5. THE WELL CHARITY GOLF OUTING
Where/When: Inkster Valley Golf Club, 2150 Middlebelt Road, Inkster; 8 a.m.-7 p.m.
Why Go: The Well bar is hosting their first annual Charity Golf Outing, which will raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Pricing: $90 per person
