Florida resident Kelly Michael Brady was arraigned Wednesday on charges of first degree murder (premeditated); and two counts of felony murder, in the 1991 death of Dearborn resident Gracielita Flores.

Dearborn police confirmed that on July 12, 1991, Flores was cleaning the ACCESS community center in the city's south end when she was attacked and killed. Detectives conducted an investigation in 1991 but no arrests were made and the case went cold.

However, Brady turned himself in for the murder in May, and was extradited to Michigan for trial.

Brady's preliminary examination will take place June 22 at the 19th District Court in Dearborn.

Four of Flores's five children were at the arraignment Wednesday, and said they are "in shock" over Brady's confession, but still consider him to be just a suspect at this point.

"We were always hoping someone would be brought to justice," said daughter Yolanda Vazquez of her mother's murder.
