Today in Dearborn: July 29

Five things you need to know to start your day in Dearborn.

Ready to start your day? Here's what you need to know.

1. The threat of–and actual–rain will continue today, according to the National Weather Service. But the good news? It'll likely clear up around 3 p.m., just in time for you to start your weekend!

2. Speaking of your weekend...got any plans? Because we do, and we've laid them out for you in our Weekend Planner. From a puppet show to the Maker Faire to the "Hottest Girl in America" contest at the Post Bar, there's literally something for everyone.

3. One thing not listed in our planner, however, is the first-ever Kick it to the Curb event. It takes place all day tomorrow and we'll have a full story up on the site later this morning about why you should take part in this fun event of giving and taking free stuff.

4. Shape up tonight with a Zumba master class! It takes place from 7-10 p.m. at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center. Call 313-943-2354 to register. The class is $15.

5. In honor of Dearborn's automotive heritage, we bring you Ford Facts. Today's fact: This week, Ford Motor Company announced plans to build a $900-million production plant in India. The plant, aimed at upping sales in the country, will open in 2014 and create 5,000 jobs.
