People beware out there on the roads. I see lots of aggressive driving--people speeding unnecessarily, changing lanes aggressively without looking or signalling--looking like they are the only ones on the road. Ford Road is especially bad as you head out east toward Southfield Fwy.

May God be with the families involved in this accident..as mentioned by the other so far, people do need to stop driving so fast. I drive telegraph everyday and it's horrible. I really wish people would be more considerate of other when they drive. Driving like everyday "road rage" is not going to always get you to your destination....This is so sad..my children are 9th graders at Annapolis and are very saddened by this too...Prayers go out to the Annapolis H.S. students and staff who knew them as well...Drive safely..

And another thing - To the loved ones of these kids- you have every right to be mad and poor decision making but, just please don't think he did this on purpose. I'm not saying he was an Angel. I just know this ain't his style. Hate him if you have to hate him. He'll carry that weight. Just don't think it was on purpose, if you can help it. Best Wishes to anyone affected.

Darell didn't murder anyone in this incident. Wreckless endangerment causing death? Maybe. Vehicular manslaughter? Maybe. Murder? Nope. I had another comment posted that's been removed so I'll say it another way- nobody is defending his actions. He was wrong and we all know it. Were he still here, even he wouldn't defend those actions. No doubt about it, he knew as he was up in the air that he was wrong. Darell wasn't an angel but he sure wasn't no kid killer... Not on purpose anyway, I guess. Nobody is saying he was right or that his actions are excusable. But just because he happened to be at fault, that shouldn't mean that his loved ones can't grieve, does it? This guy has a million friends all over the country- maybe the world- and he's adored for being a solid stand up guy and for being the first one to help a friend.
My heart goes out to everyone who was effected by the loss of those kids and I'm positive I'm not the only bald headed tattooed convicted scum of society that feels this way.
I just want their families to know it was an accident. As in not on purpose or intentional. It was stupid, dumb, pathetic, immature, etc.. It was all that stuff but it was an accident. Hate him with everything you can muster- he'll carry every bit of it.
Sorry for your loss. Please let us be sorry for ours. Not asking you to be sorry for our loss, but at least let us. Thanks.
And let's stay respectful. You wouldn't tell me to "save it" to my face so let's just stay civil.

Your friend was a POS, cranked up on meth. So he was an accomplished tattoo artist? That doesn't change the fact that he was of despicable character. His driving record demonstrates a wanton disregard for others. Barreling down the road at 70 to 100 mph, completely ignoring traffic lights, while sideswiping a number of cars- than your POS friend runs through the Ford Rd and Telegraph intersection while the light is red, without even slowing down. What do you call that? A bad day? I urinate on his carcass and memory.

I am a family member of Markel Jackson Willis . Our family has had an great lose, and for you to say lives weren't taken not on purpose, how would you know? knowing someone means that you know that he wouldn't never took drugs , gotten in his truck, side swipe other cars and ran though a red light. It's obvious that you didn't know your friend. Well, we know our young cuzin had alot to offer and not yet lived his life, your friend has destroyed the heart of his Mother in which he was the only child. A bright future this young man had ahead of him. Our family has to await the day we lay our lil KELLEY ROC to rest.

@ Stevie Cockfight... I saw your recent posts. of course your people have a right to grieve by the sounds of your story. Perhaps there's just one thing you could shed some light on so my heart can seek some sort of solace in this hideous event... I would find Darrell's reckless behavior more understandable if he was at the end of his rope for reason of outrageous debt... outstanding warrants... deep heartbreak, a sudden awareness of a loss of a love... (in other words, temporary insanity???)...
I'm not at all excusing what he ended up causing.... but wanting deeply to understand this more...
Thank you

Hi, Peggy, and thanks for not attacking me. I don't wanna give any info that isn't necissarily my business to talk about but, to try and answer ur question, I'll say first that it's not an easy question to answer. Beyond that, I don't know exactly what was on his mind. I tend to say "no" to the heartache, major debt, etc. theories but, I've been wrong before so who knows? What I do feel safe saying is that he was simply in a hurry w his head up his a** and it blew up in his face. The details will come out soon I'm sure and because it isn't released just yet, I don't feel like I should be the first to put it out there. Sorry to disappoint. Hope u understand. I will say this tho- In his own mind, he had a reason for what he was doing. Not that it was the right choice but, it was his choice. Poor decision making is common w guys like him and I and while I can't condone those choices, I do understand why he made the choice he did.
Sorry I can't say more but I will in due time.
Anymore questions, just reply. Or email me direct.

It is indeed the saddest thing when a sick mind murders innocent people while on the path to wrecking themselves. Such a pity that none of his friends saw this coming. Intervention=possible prevention. Let those who sat back and watched this monster spin out of control without lifting a finger to help let this eat at your conscience.

According to the news, (hearsay) the black pickup , traveling west at speeds between 80 to 100 mph, had sideswiped several cars from Outer Drive to Telegraph, whose owners had notified police. At those speeds, the Honda didn't have a chance, if the Ford pickup collided at 90 mph. Why was the pickup traveling so fast? What could be so important on the truck driver's mind to cause this tragedy.?

I just want to say that I hope God brings comfort to all the families of the lost. Markel was a bright young man, intelligent, well mannered, and behaved. Will I pray that he has a full recovery. Incidents like these are really unacceptable we need to start taking responsibility for our action there's nothing that can justify taking another individuals life whatever the reason is no matter where he had to be or what time he had to be there so instead you take the life of innocent people and that is truly a poor case of judgement. RIP MARKEL LOVE YOU.....

As I read through this I feel pain for these families, I have 3 children, and am always worried when they get out on the road. What I find hard to understand is someone justifying someone else doing 90 miles an hour, and jeopordizing others. There is no excuse for it and it can not be justifyied or have a reason for doing so. It was irresponsiable, stupid, and not rational. And if you are going to say he wasnt rational, then he had no buisness on the road...there is no excuse I am sorry it was wrong, and to me it is murder. I would feel this way if it where my loved ones, and it is not an accident doing 90 miles an hour, its and accident when you are not familur with something, maybe make a wrong turn, bad weather, but driving 90 miles an hour was a choice there is a big diffrence that needs to be understood, and I guess as his truck was flying through the air I am sure he had second thoughts about what he did, wouldnt anyone that knew they where probably not going to make it, its human nature, but did not excuse what he did, it was his choice to drive his vehicle at 90 miles an hour, it was not the choice of those kids to be hit by his vehicle......getting my point here

Every one of u have been speeding down the road at one time or another...so dont judge him on the fact that he was white and killed "african teenagers" if it would've been white children he killed in this accident there wouldnt even be a discussion about this accident. whenever a white person does something to an african its a tragedy. yet everyday theres blacks committing crimes and doing things to white people and you never hear about it. yes he screwed up...and it cost him the lives of two others and himself. i bet if you gave everyone of them drug tests...even the teenagers...they wouldve all failed. Everyone just wants to put the blame on someone else. maybe if your kids were at home instead of joyriding they would be at home safe in bed.

david dejesus.
Speeding is one thing. Going over 90 MGH through a red light is a different story.
My only wish is that he only killed himself instead of wiping out these innocent young people. His actions are completely indefensible. Only a madman who acts as recklessly as this killer would defend or excuse this madman's behavior.
Gus
9:26 pm on Tuesday, January 8, 2013
Steve, there is no excuse that can justify his actions, unless it was a malfuntion of the pickup where he could not control it, then he is innocent. Other than that it was 100% murder. Please don't say it was just an accident, unless you have evidnece you would like to share. otherwise you shouldnt say anything to defend him. People here are venting for the loss of their friends who where 100% innocent. Your friend is not, at this point. There is nothing you can say that would do any good to these people, accept that your sorry for what your buddy did. Thats it.

To the families of the boys, may god be with u and may u have the abolity to hear god while he speaks to u! We were not put here to judge and in the end Darrel only has to answer to one! You don't need intent for Second Degree Murder, so his family can console themselves with the fact that they only raised a Second Degree Murderer and not a first-degree one.

To Blink, you are right 2nd degree murder (maybe) vehicular manslaughter (more likely). What we are saying is Darrel did not intentionally do this! It was a horrible horrible accident! I am none to judge! He had a wife and family, they and everyone else who knew Darrel has the right to mourn! His family has the right to mourn his loss and the loss of the two young men! Anyone who has faith and compassion would know forgiveness is the key to healing! I know it's hard to forgive, I know it would be hard for me! My heart hurts for the families of the three young men and I pray everyday the third young man is healing! Just because Darrel made mistakes as a teeneage or ayoung adult does not make him a horrible person! He made a horrible decision and he has paid the ultimate price! This is not for me or anyone else to judge! RIP Darrel you'll be missed!
