Suspected Bomb at HFCC Revealed as Iced Tea Bottle

A report about a suspicious package at Henry Ford Community College this week turned out to be a false alarm, according to Dearborn police.
Campus safety called police to the school at 10:44 p.m. on Jan. 14, reporting that they saw a strange package on a bench near the rear of the Fine Arts building. The package, police reported, was cylindrical in shape and wrapped in a black pastic bag.
Dearborn police blockaded the area within a 300 foot radius of the object and brought in a robot to approach it. However, the object turned out to be a bottle of Arizona Iced Tea, which had frozen to the bench with the bag around it.
The iced tea bottle was disposed of, and no explosive was found.

Thanks Jessica, I've been looking to see what bomb squad and all the police were doing there last week. The time reported is off a bit though. When I left class in the Fine Arts building at 10 PM we had to exit from a different door because the area just outside the usual door was completely taped off. There were already several police and security cars there and the police bomb squad truck was just pulling up. I was a little surprised all that was going on right outside class and we hadn't been told or evacuated, but figured it must have been a fairly minor threat of some sort and the bomb squad was just a precaution. Glad it ended up safely. Thanks for the update!

Guess it's better safe than sorry, right?
The time we report is what is on the police report, but it depends on which officer creates it - sometimes they only put the time the report is "made" (which is after the event already happened), instead of the time the incident occurred.
