Students Report Suspicious Man Near Maples Elementary
The following information was supplied by the Dearborn Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.
Two students reported separate encounters with the same suspicious man near an elementary school on Jan. 15, according to Dearborn police.
Police were called to Maples Elementary School Wednesday afternoon after the students alerted school administrators that they had both seen the same man outside of the school the previous afternoon—one at 3:45 p.m. and the other, 10 minutes later.
The man, they said, was in a black sedan and had at least one child with him. Both reported that the man told them, "Get in my car or I'm coming to get you."
Both students ignored the demand and informed their parents about the incidents, who then told the kids to inform the school.
The children described the man as an Arab male around the age of 40 with a moustache and black hair.
Dearborn police officers said they would patrol the area after school, and the district was made aware of the incident.
As of Wednesday, Jan. 23, no arrests had been made.
