Stucchi's of Dearborn to Close

The Dearborn location of the national ice cream chain announced its closure on Feb. 25 via Facebook.

Another Dearborn store is closing up shop.

"Stucchi's of Dearborn is closing its doors for business," the Telegraph Road ice cream shop announced Saturday on its Facebook page.

The store is offering $1 scoops of ice cream while supplies last, and urges owners of gift certificates to use them now, as Stucchi's gift cards are not transferable to other locations.

Owner Mona Jaber told Dearborn Patch last summer that she had been feeling the pain of down economic times for months. A slow August, thanks mainly to Ramadan keeping daytime customers away, left times tighter than usual.

Special offers, such as 25 cent scoops day in September and $1 scoops the night of Halloween, provided only temporary bumps in sales.

With spring right around the corner, the closure will leave Dearborn with fewer options for ice cream. ColdStone Creamery's west Dearborn location closed in November.

Good Times Caffe serves Ashby's ice cream in west Dearborn, while Shatila Bakery serves homemade brand on the east end. TCBY and Baskin-Robbins also have locations in Dearborn.
