On Feb. 16, those looking to test their luck can gamble for a good, local cause—and one person can attend with a guest for free!
The annual Cool Cat Casino Night, run by Friends For the Dearborn Animal Shelter, returns to Dearborn Feb. 16—and we're giving away a pair of tickets.
The event includes chances to win cash payouts playing classics like Texas Hold ‘Em Poker, Black Jack, and Let It Ride, plus an open bar, buffet, live entertainment and door prizes. This year, the event will be Hawaiian-themed, and will include a taco bar donated by the Dearborn Heights Del Taco.
Want to go without buying a $30 ticket? Enter our Cool Cat Casino contest between Jan. 28-Feb. 4 for a chance to win a pair of tickets. Here's how:
- Upload a photo of your pet by clicking on the "Upload Photos and Videos" button on this page. Yes, the event is cat-themed, but we'll take dog, hamster, pot-bellied pig, parakeet and even snake photos, too.
- Tell us about your beloved furry (or scaled) friend in the caption.
- We'll pick one winner on Feb. 4, who will receive two tickets to the Cool Cat Casino at 7 p.m. on Feb. 16 at the O'Kelly Banquet Hall in Dearborn. Tickets can be picked up at will-call at the event.
Even if you don't win the prize, you can buy tickets for this adults-only event for $30 in advance at the Dearborn Animal Shelter or online, or for $35 at the door.
OK, now for the rules:
- Open to legal residents of the 50 United States, the District of Columbia who are 18 and older.
- To enter, upload a photo of your pet
- All entries must be received by noon on Monday, Feb. 4 Eastern Time.
- You may enter once.
- One winner will be selected in a random drawing.
- One (1) Grand Prize Winner will receive two tickets to the Cool Cat Casino Night. Approximate Retail Value: $70. Transportation to/from the event NOT included in the prize and will be the responsibility of the winner.

I posted to pics and I do nto see them and I didnt get chance to write about the 2 photos help........One is our new puppy rescue from the detroit humane society ..and the other pic is 5 out of our 7 cats in their carriers on the way to the vet for their check-ups--- we rescued 7 cats ......5 of them from Dearborn animal shelter in the pass 6 yrs now ...what do we do to get our pics to post and out statements ?

Was fun uploading my kitty's belly pic. Hope you all enjoy it as much as I always do. She's a 10 yr old Goof who was abandoned in a Walmart parking lot, in 15 degree temps and was found already frozen stiff. Thawed her out and have loved her even since! (Who says Walmart doesn't have all you need?) *winks*

My first cat, AJ, came from the Dearborn Animal Shelter six years ago. Krueger - the orange guy in the photo - was handed over by a friend of a friend who didn't want him (I did!). Alfie is our most recent addition - a one-year-old Affenpinscher adopted from the Toledo Humane Society six months ago.
