More than 70 local families had Severstal Dearborn to be thankful for last week as they celebrated the holiday.
Employees of Severstal donated food and more than $1,800 in cash to St. Sebastian Parish of Dearborn Heights to feed struggling families in southeast Michigan. St. Sebastian works with St. Vincent de Paul to distribute the goods each year.
Severstal Dearborn Vice President and General Manager Bruce Black thanked employees for their contributions.
"Between the generous contributions of cash and food and the volunteering of time to organize the drive, over 70 families will have food during this season of Thanksgiving," Black said in a statement. "Truly the best way to celebrate and appreciate all we have is to give something back to those in need in the community in which we operate."
St. Sebastian Parish Office Manager Shelley Hane seconded the thank you.
"I, along with our Christian Service Commission at St. Sebastian Parish and St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry thank the Severstal employees from the bottom of our hearts for their kindness during the holiday season," she said.
