Relief at the Pump: Gas Prices Falling from Summer Peak

The cheapest gas in Dearborn as of Thursday is $3.84 per gallon, and prices are expected to continue falling in coming weeks.

The average price for a gallon of gas is slowly starting to fall after hitting a seasonal peak of $3.87 on Sept. 14, according to the Wall Street Journal.

AAA reports the national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is $3.79 as of Sept. 27; one year ago, the national average was $3.50 per gallon.

“Retail gasoline prices have slowly been drifting lower since we hit a late summer peak of $3.8708 a gallon on Sept. 14,” Tom Kloza, chief oil analyst at the Oil Price Information Service, told the Wall Street Journal. He added that gas prices could fall into the $3.70s this week.

In Dearborn, you can find the cheapest gas at the Sunoco at 10000 Michigan Ave., located near the Wyoming intersection, which is currently charging $3.84 per gallon of regular unleaded gasoline.
