Relay for Life Team to Host Ugly Up the Avenue Bar Crawl Friday
Join Team Dearborn at any of the five participating bars for drink and food specials, and to help raise funds for the American Cancer Society.
The Relay for Life event season is over, but one Dearborn team is still going strong with fundraising for the American Cancer Society.
Team Dearborn will be hosting their Ugly Up the Avenue Pub Crawl in west downtown Dearborn Friday night beginning at 7 p.m. This event will be tropical-themed, and participants are encourage to don their best luau getout.
Proceeds will benefit ACS, and add to the team's annual fundraising total–which is around $25,000, according to co-captain Amy Stegner.
The evening will begin at Buffalo Wild Wings, where participants can register between 7-9 p.m. From there, the group will move every hour to the Biergarten, Post Bar, Bailey's and the Double Olive, in that order.
"The bars have all been really supportive," said Stener
This is the team's third bar crawl, but their first that falls outside of the normal Relay for Life fundraising season. Stegner explained that Team Dearborn–comprised of around three dozen members, plus drop-in members–is very dedicated to the cause of raising funds for cancer research.
"Our team is pretty motivated," she said, "so we decided to do more fundraising to raise awareness more than just in April and May."
A $15 donation will get participants a wristband, which gives them access to food and drink specials at all five bars.

Thanks so much for the article! We lost a team member earlier this month, so we're trying to reach our 2012 Relay goal of $25,000 in her memory.
We've got some of the specials tonight detailed on our blog- http://www.teamdearborncares.blogspot.com/2012/06/ugly-up-avenue-tropical-edition.html?m=1
Should be a great time tonight!
