Police: Gas Main Leak at Dix and Vernor in Dearborn

Dearborn police are advising people to stay away from the area.

 

A gas main leak was discovered in the area of Vernor and Dix Roads in south Dearborn, police announced Friday morning around 10:30 a.m.

According to WXYZ, the leak was caused when construction workers hit an 8-inch gas line.

Police and fire responded to the scene. No injuries were reported, but police advised people to stay away from the area. Local businesses were evacuated as a precaution.

Update, 12:15 p.m.: Police say that the gas main leak has been stopped. Local roads have reopened to traffic.

The gas main is expected to be repaired.
