Photo Gallery: The 2011 Dearborn Farmers Market
Looking back at some of the vendors, events and foods of the fifth market season.
The fifth season of the Dearborn Farmers Market is coming to an end, with the last day of the 2011 season set to take place Friday, Oct. 28. But it's been a good one.
Although things got off to a cold start back in May, the weather quickly warmed up and cooperated–for the most part. The market drew hundreds of visitors each week to pick up fruits and vegetables, baked goods, fresh-squeezed lemonade and even some soap.
Bob Binell sharpened knives, while Matt's Mix gave marketgoers ideas for how to season their purchases. Binky's brought the old-fashioned Dearborn Brand hot dogs, while Treat Dreams introduced people to some far-out flavors. The students of the Pockets of Perception Design Team painted a giant apple to raise funds for the market–and received a $550 bid for the finished product. And the Henry Ford Community College ice-carving team created sculptures on-site.
Two evening markets were held, and even Dearborn Patch couldn't resist setting up a table to take in the sunny weather and neighborly fun.
It was a season of good finds, great friends and delicious food. See you next year.
