The Dearborn Animal Shelter is my favorite "charity". They enrich the lives of animals and humans, both. It takes special people to do the work that they do and I am so grateful that we have them here.

Mubarrat Charitable Organization. One of the best and most efficient charities in the world. They have a local branch in Dearborn, on W Warren just west of Schaefer. You can sponsor a child for an entire year for $500.

@ Julie S - I agree that the Dearborn Women's Expo is a super fund-raiser. I also like the Goodfellows who try to guarantee "No Child Without a Christmas". LHB

Panera Cares! I put in a little extra $$ for my order and I know I am helping in our community. I also support the Dearborn Animal Shelter by taking in items on their wish-list and making kitty/ puppy blankets.

Jessica, can we still submit a favorite charity? If yes I suggest the Dearborn Public Library Foundation.

Sorry - we only took nominations through July 9! But the DPL Foundation is a really great nonprofit, I agree. Perhaps worth a story, instead?

I know it is too late to enter but I think the Dearborn Firefighters Burn Drive is the best Charitable organization in Dearborn. They are always doing some type of event to raise money so that they can help out the citizens of Dearborn. A friend of mine was burned out of her house a couple years ago and before they even left they had given her a place to stay for a while, gift cards to kroger so she had food for the family and cloths and toys for the kids....it was AMAZING. Not to mention that toy run they do every year, i was luckey enough to tag along a couple years back and let me tell you, when they show up with those toys to the kids in the hospital around christmas time it is honestly life changing. When those sick kids faces light up it put life in perspective, and let me tell you there wasnt a dry eye in the house, it moved even those big bad firefighters. After seeing these things first hand I will ALWAYS support the Dearborn Firefighter Burn Drive they really are here for us anytime.
