Man Arrested for Shoplifting at Dearborn Target Had Livonia, Westland Warrants

The following information was supplied by the Dearborn Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

One man was arrested and another suspect got away from a reported theft from the Dearborn Target store on Saturday, according to Dearborn police.

Police were called to the store in the Mercury Drive plaza off of Ford Road jsut after 8 p.m., when an employee saw two men concealing items from the store in their coats.

As police arrived, they saw one of the men exiting the store and walking across the parking lot. Officers told him to stop, at which point he turned around and tried to run back into the store. He was stopped by Target's Loss Prevention officers, which caused him to fall down.

At that point, police said, two Playstation controllers fell out of his coat.

Officers cuffed and arrested the man, identified as a 20-year-old resident of Livonia. A check of the man's name also revealed retail fraud warrants in Livonia and Westland.

Police searched the area for a second suspect, but were unable to find him. A review of surveillance footage showed that the man in question left the store and drove off in a tan colored car—possibly a Malibu.
