Credit Union Marks $100K in Donations to Dearborn Education Foundation
The final $10,000 of the 10-year contribution was given to the nonprofit this month.
How does a business truly make an impact in the community they serve? For Dearborn Federal Credit Union, the answer comes with a 10 year, $100,000 partnership with the Dearborn Education Foundation.
A decade ago, the DFCU leadership team decided to make a strong commitment to education in the Dearborn community. A milestone in that commitment was realized this month when Theresa Fox, Caryn Solferino and the rest of the DFCU team presented DEF Executive Director Eddie Fakhoury with their annual $10,000 check placing them at the $100,000 level of giving.
The ceremony took place during the foundation’s 8th annual Mardi Gras event on Feb. 12. The announcement was just one of many outstanding good news items shared at the event and reflected the great interest in the City of Dearborn by its residents, businesses, and corporate stakeholders.
“It is our hope that others in the community will take notice of our confidence in this school district and that it will spark more of this type of investment with the Dearborn Education Foundation," said Caryn Solferino, chairperson of the Mardi Gras event and DFCU Financial Branch Manager.
The foundation was identified as DFCU’s premier partner because they wanted to ensure that their investment went directly to impact teachers and students. Over the years the partnership has help to fund projects and materials needed to enhance student learning. DFCU Financial has not only invested funds, but also provides volunteers and its members serve on the Education Foundation Board.
The Dearborn Education Foundation understands the value of partnerships and is always open to discussing the possibilities of partnering.
