League of Women Voters Launches Election Guide Site

The Dearborn branch of LWV hopes to keep local voters education with candidate, polling location, and voting information.

A website launched by the League of Women Voters aims to help citizens stay informed about upcoming local elections.

Vote411.org–which includes an offshoot managed by the Dearborn-Dearborn Heights LWV–includes nonpartisan information provided by the candidates themselves, ballot language for local issues, and necesssary voter information.

A comparison tool helps voters decide which candidates to vote for.

Another feature is the polling place locater, which enables users to type in their address and receive the poll location for the voting precinct in which the address is located.

How to Use VOTE411.org

The League of Women Voters of Dearborn-Dearborn Heights has provided step-by-step instructions on how to use the site.

  1. Go to www.vote411.org Home Page
  2. Go to “On Your Ballot” - select “Michigan” - click GO
  3. On right side of the page see “Personalized Ballot” - enter your address, city, zip - click GO
  4. A map of your address appears, with a listing below of your voting districts…
  5. Scroll down - click on the yellow “Continue” box.
  6. A screen for English or Spanish appears. English is currently active.
  7. Press the yellow “Continue” box again
  8. The first of the races on your primary ballot will be displayed.

Most of the candidates have responded to various questions. Selecting candidates (use the pull down menus) at the bottom the screen will display the answers and comments from up to two candidates at a time.

Additionally, candidates may be selected from the lists (click the box to the right of the candidate) to build a personal voter guide including your selections. This guide may be printed or emailed to provide a record of your ballot and your selections if you choose to make selections.
