Last-Minute Father's Day Gift Ideas in Dearborn

Father's Day is Sunday, June 17. What are you giving dad?

I'm going to let you down gently: Dad doesn't need another necktie.

OK, now that we've gotten that out of the way, what are you giving pops this Father's Day (this Sunday, June 17, for those who may have forgotten)?

We like to think we know dads pretty well. And Patch is here to help! So here's our quick ideas for where to take dad, or what you can get him in Dearborn that he'll really appreciate. Is your dad into...

Cars?

It just so happens that one of The Henry Ford's biggest car events–the annual Motor Muster–takes place this Father's Day weekend. Good planning, huh?

Check out more than 700 vintage vehicles from the 1930s to the early 1970s, including classic cars, vintage trucks, bicycles and even fire engines by the gaslamp light, with a live World War II USO-style show that concludes with a spectacular fireworks display on Saturday night.

Hours are 9:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday and 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday.

Visit www.thehenryford.org for ticket information.

Beer?

Let resident beer manager of Merchant's Fine Wine Annette May help you pick out the perfect brew for pops.

Dark and malty? Light and hoppy? Stout? Lager? Ale? The west downtown Dearborn shop has 1,050 types of beer to choose from, so you really can't go wrong. Find them warm, cold, in packs or in singles. Heck–pick out a bunch and have Merchant's make you a gift basket.

Just make sure you pick up a few for yourself, too.

Golf?

Dearborn is home to three beautiful golf courses. Buy dad a round of golf for him and a friend, or get the whole family to chip in on a membership at one of these clubs.

Gadgets?

Picking out a gift for dad from Harry's Army Surplus is like choosing candy for a kid: It's all good.

Whether it's a practical present for work, or a really cool hand-carved knife or utility tool, Harry's is the place to go for the gear-loving dad.

Check out the Harry's Facebook page for specific gift ideas for dads from their store.

Tools?

When shopping for the do-it-yourself dad, Home Depot, Wyoming Hardware and ACO Hardware should be first on the Father's Day gift quest.

Home Depot is running a series of online specials for Father's Day, with free shipping, reduced prices and free in-store pick-up service for orders placed online. All three stores offer gift cards if you don't want to run the risk of picking the wrong power tool.

But if dad has to have something to unwrap, here are a few ideas:

Note: Be sure to grab the ACO Hardware coupon in this week's ad. Spend $25 at ACO, get a $25 Restaurant.com e-gift card.
