Good Burger Restaurant Opens in East Dearborn BP Gas Station

Gourmet burgers and wraps are the specialties of choice at the aptly named Good Burger restaurant that opened up inside the BP gas station at 10419 Ford Road in Dearborn this month.

The new restaurant is owned and operated by local residents Zo Olabi and Hassan Jaafar, who have been in the food service industry for 10 years.

"This is our first time venturing out on our own," Jaafar said. "A few years ago we considered starting a catering business and stumbled on this space inside the gas station, so we decided to seize the opportunity."

The restaurant hasn’t been open long, but its already becoming a popular stop for the business and college crowd with its unique take on the American comfort food.

"Business has been fantastic," Jaafar said. "Everyone tells us they really enjoy our menu."

The secret, according to Olabi, is fresh, never frozen products. That includes ordering buns and meat from local businesses daily, preparing all the sandwich condiments and sauces in-house, fresh produce, and hand-cut French fries and onion rings.

"We strive to use all top notch ingredients," Jaafar said. "Our location might not say 'gourmet hamburgers,' but you have to start somewhere. As we build out our clientele and brand loyalty, we'll venture into a diner."

For now, the two self-professed foodies are content with their location, which they said caters to customers on the go.

Jaafer said what he loves most is being able to get creative with his own menu.

"We're adding new burgers all the time based on customer feedback," he said. "If people want a specific burger and we have the ingredients, we'll try to make it."

A popular request is the restaurant's Southwest Burger, which includes jalapenos, Frank's Red Hot sauce, and Pepper jack cheese, according to Olabi.

In addition to hamburgers, the restaurant also offers salads and chicken fingers, as well as halal options.

As part of the restaurant's grand opening, it is offering free delivery for the Dearborn area. Good Burger is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Plans are already in the works to expand the restaurant's hours in May.
