Fordson Student Reportedly Assaulted Outside of School
The following information was supplied by the Dearborn Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.
A ninth grade Fordson student was reportedly injured in a fight with another student outside of the school on Wednesday.
According to Dearborn police reports, officers responded to an urgent care center at 4700 Schaefer on reports that a Fordson High School student had been physically assaulted by another teen.
A Fordson freshman told police that he was leaving an after-school program at around 5:50 p.m. when he observed several other teens outside of the school. One of the teens—whom he had a bad history with—began laughing at him.
He told police that he asked the boy, also a freshman, what he was laughing at, and the boy punched him in the face, knocking him to the ground. The boy then reportedly kicked him in the head “at least 10 times” while wearing football cleats.
When the assaulted teen’s mother came to pick him up from school shortly after, she took him to urgent care.
Police observed that he had a bloodied lip and a gash on the right side of his head that required stitches.
Police did not indicate whether the suspect was contacted regarding the altercation.

And...expelled permanently from any public school in Dearborn. Let his parents now have to pay their school taxes AND private school tuition.

I hope they do press charges. I don't care how old someone is, if you can do that to another person your a real piece of s@#t. My daughter goes to fordson and I really wish she didn't. Do parents know that the school was also on lock down yesterday and dogs were brought in to sniff lockers for drugs? I received no information of a lockdown until my daughter informed me. "mom students are always high or drunk at school" wtf is going on with these kids?

I don't know whats more apaling the fact you just used "WTF"especially as a parent, or the fact that you are blaming the school for an incident that happened after school hours. How involved are you as a parent to know fact from fiction. Do you realize that every school has to have safety practice drills in compliance with state regulations. As an active parent of 2 students at Fordson I have walked thru the hallways at least once or twice a week and usually its during passing time or when picking up my children. I can say I am proud of what I see and hear of this school. I have never seen any thing but respectful, courteous students who have taken an initiative to fight the negative reputation that ignorant parents as yourself have given them. I'm not saying the students at Fordson are perfect but its not fair that you are labeling them as a whole due to issues that only affect a small minority of the students. That being said my children are honor roll students who are taking Advance College Placement classes, so they are surrounded by positive students and a positive environment. For your child to be stating such a comment who are her friends and who does she surround herself with to see this "always" happening? Or then again, the answer to that question lies in your use of terminology "WTF"

Dalal for your information my daughter is in advanced placement classes as well and a straight A student. These kids are not her friends but other students she sees daily. The "wtf" is used because a post will not get posted with certain words so you are the ignorant one. And for your information I am a parent that is very involved at Fordson. No one blamed the school for the fight, learn to read. It's sad that you have so much anger over my wishes that this kid be charged. Wondering if the bully is your kid or someone you know. So sad that you have no compassion for a child that was hurt.

I transferred my daughter from Deaborn public schools because she was bullied on her very first day! I complained and nothing was done. I have no compassion for ANY kid that bullies another. Charges should be pressed and the parents should somehow pay for the actions of thier stupid kids! And...Yes I think the person who replied to you has to know the bully!! SMH!

I am a retired high school teacher who has "seen it all". You have to be there to appreciate the goings-on in academia. Some are there to learn and others to disrupt. More to learn, but the troublemakers made things miserable. The schools do a good job of controlling problems, but fights do occur. When you put 1500+ in an enclosed situation, problems arise. But, as I learned in my 33 years, EVERY kid deserves a chance and students DO change. If you hurt someone you have to pay in some way. AND, there are two sides to every story. BUT, in no way should violence EVER be tolerated. Oh yes, how can the school be responsible for what goes on, outside, after the end of the day?

I hope the offending student is expelled due to the violent nature of the attack, but in today's society it is easier for a student to get arrested than to get expelled from school for committing the same offense.
The lack of security after school is a real problem. It still doesn't mean that the incident would not have happened, but you can enter most of the high schools and find no one there after 3:30 except for a few students loitering around and some students attending various club meetings.

The school is not responsible for the fight. The child that hurt the other child is. I know many wonderful teachers at Fordson and many of them struggle daily with their desire and compassion to teach all while dealing with rude and unruly children. Not all but most kids these days have no respect and that all starts at home,

I agree that there is a real lack of respect among a lot of kids...not most, but a lot. And it's not just a lack of respect for teachers; it's a lack of respect for each other. My son is in middle school, and the rudeness and even cruelty he sees every day is disturbing, to say the least. Ican only conclude that these kids

To continue my comment above, I can only conclude that these kids learn how to treat other people like this at home. It's sad, especially for the kids who are just trying to get through the school day and are doing what they are supposed to be doing and treating others as they'd want to be treated. It seems as if a lot of parents have abdicated the job of parenting.

Let me clarify something, I never once defended those students. My comment to you was based on the negative attack you took at Fordson High School, not on your wish to see these kids disciplined. Of course I have compassion for the child that was hurt and of course it should be handled in an appropriate manner whether by the school or the authorities. But, I also have compassion for the students and my own children that attend Fordson High School. Your comments were unfair to the majority of the students and you pretty much were labeling them as "high on and Drunkards". Its sad that for every 100 positive thing Fordson students and staff have done, one negative will outshine it all. Yours comments helped accomplish that. Also, "FYI" I am "LOL" at you calling me ignorant, especially when you use still dont realize my point of using the acronym "WTF".

If you are such and active parent at Fordson like you claim then you would know that the school has had problems with students being high or drunk. There you go twisting words again; nowhere in my comment did I state that it was a majority of the students. It is an issue not just at Fordson but many schools and when I know that this is going on I can't help but think WTF. If you have a problem with my terminology well then you’re the ignorant one because instead of worrying about how I phrase things you should be more concerned with what's going on with at your child’s school. Hope to see you at the next parent meeting Dalal.

Typical Arab parent, defending Fordson no matter what the students do. You wonder why the rest of Dearborn hates us? It's because of parents like you who watch Arab-American kids run crazy and refuse to admit there's a problem.

Fordson has a serious culture problem. Students have no respect for the school, staff, or each other. Unless we start enforcing rules and discipline, there isn't going to be much learning out of Fordson. To the parent of the attacked student: press charges!

Easy solution:...Boy # 1 was baited by boy # 2. Boy # 1 asked boy # 2 why he was laughing at him. (Boy # 1) Boy # 2 punched Boy # 1 in the face, knocking him to the ground. (assault charge # 1) Boy # 2 then seriously assaults Boy # 1 with a foot stomping on Boy # 1's head, while wearing "football cleats". (attempted murder charge) Boy # 1's parents hire attorney.

I went to Fordson for 4 years in the 90's. Fights everyday, bullys, and pretty much a building full of disrespect. You can love Fordson all you want...my experience...it was a hell hole. Hope the kid is punished to the fullest.

If Fordson was bad in the 90's, I can't imagine what its like today. I'm tired of these Fordson supporters that come out to every article exposing its flaws. They need to realize that Fordson is a bad place to learn and that its time for change, not pride.

I graduated from Fordson in 1995 and went there for my full 4 years of high school. I was a quiet nerdy kid. There were not fights every day. There were bullies, sure. There were disrespectful kids as well. But tell me what school DOESN'T have that? There were plenty of nice kids who minded their own business, went out of their way to help others and showed all the respect that others deserve. This incident that happened outside of Fordson today is a tragedy. But it didn't happen BECAUSE it is Fordson. I didn't love every minute of my high school experience but it wasn't a hell hole. Attend Detroit Public Schools and then we'll talk hell holes.

ALL MEASURES NEED TO BE TAKEN TO STOP THE USE OF DRUGS AND ALCOHOL IN THE SCHOOL.
