Edsel, DC Take Districts in Girls Basketball
Dearborn High, Fordson and Henry Ford Academy bow out in district competition.
Edsel Ford and Divine Child's girls basketball teams will both be moving on to regionals in their respective classes.
Edsel Ford
In the first round of Class A districts for Dearborn schools on Monday, Feb. 27, Fordson High advanced with a 59-37 win over Lincoln Park, while Dearborn High lost to Crestwood 56-31 the same day.
Wednesday saw Fordson take on Edsel Ford, with the Thunderbirds coming out victorious, 65-32. Crestwood brought home a win against Allen Park, 58-42.
Friday's game was a blowout for the Lady Thunderbirds, answering every Crestwood point with two of their own. The final score of the night was 55-29 for Edsel.
The girls will advance to the regional semifinals on March 6, taking on Brownstown Woodhaven at Ypsilanti Lincoln.
Divine Child
It was a similarly successful week for the Lady Falcons, who swept their Class B district games.
First was Melvindale, which went down 47-20 against DC on Monday. On Wednesday, the girls took on Allen Park Cabrini in a slightly closer game–still coming out on top, 58-41.
Friday's game against Henry Ford Academy saw DC trippling their score, with a 61-20 win.
They will advance to regional semifinals on March 6 as well, taking on Ferndale High at Carleton Airport.
