A man driving a white SUV and another younger man driving a black car collided at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Outer Drive, near Park Street, witnesses told the Dearborn Free Press.

Photos on the website show the Dearborn Fire Department responded to the wreck, which destroyed the black car, smashed the front end of the SUV and scattered debris across the roadway.
”When I got to Park Place at 5:00 pm, the Firefighters were trying to get the driver out of the black car. It took them a while to get that person out," Colette Richards told the Dearborn Free Press. "It looked like there were 4 cars involved in the accident but I was off to the side so that’s all I could see."
The incident remains under investigation and the Dearborn Police Department was unable to comment Saturday; more details will be available Monday.
"That area has been a problem for years. Drivers are always in a hurry," Kathy Mcmillan Bazzi commented on the Dearborn Area Community Members Facebook page. "And then there is the problem of cars coming from Grindly Park. It's almost a blind spot. God help the families of all involved!"

The "blind spot" problem in that area would be reduced if drivers actually followed the traffic signs. At least twice a week, I see someone crossing the SB Outer Drive lane trying to turn left into the NB Outer Drive from Grindley Park by going into the one-way turnaround lane that is clearly marked "NO ENTRANCE". The 3-way stop sign at Grindley Park and Park is routinely ignored. And I can't tell you how many times I've been almost rear-ended turning into my driveway on Grindley Park because I'm being tailgated a half a block away from a stop sign we all should have stopped at and on a 25 mph street.
I'm actually surprised this is the worst accident we've seen around here in some time.
If the police want a revenue generator, just hang out around this intersection. We drivers are getting more and more arrogant, figuring everyone else will watch out for us.

Totally agree B. Dub!! Totally agree. I've never witnessed the jaws of life being used before or watching those firefighters bash open the passenger side window to get to the driver. It took them a while to remove him from the car. It was very scary to witness and I can't imagine having seen the actual accident. My heart just sank when I saw the car and realized someone was still in it.

From outer drive and monroe the driver or the truck was speeding. He seemed too be interested on tryna race a white sports cars maybe a corvette that was ahead of him. Right before the vidock and Krogers there is a slight curb that u MUST slow down coming around but he didnt. Too avoid being a loser in the "race",the angry truck driver rushed along the far lane of white car almost hitting that car as well. The truck lost control when trying too slow down coming around the curb and also tryed too lane change at the same time. He looked too be making a turn on Grindley Park but his carelessness and rage caused him to end up in oncoming traffic, the vehicles immediately collided. Debris and parts flew everywhere. I hope the truck driver pays for all fees and damages. They guy was driving like a idiot all because he was impatient and ignorant too the fact his car wasnt a "sports car" and the moves the corvette was making was cause it was fast enough and quick enough, smh now he's has major damages too pay for a truck that already looked too be in horrible condition. The driver of the car he was tryning too race around definately got the last laugh. Thank God that both the drivers are good but it could have been worst. We must become better on the road.

I see many drivers coming from Grindley Park crossing Outer drive to go North to Michigan Avenue or straight thru to go down Nona. If the police want to make money for the city, they should try watching that intersection for a while. I heard the accident on Friday, I am glad no one was killed! It is so busy at rush hour I would hope that they would put up a sign at Park & Outer drive stating NO LEFT TURN from 3pm to 6pm like they have at Keen & Outer Drive.

I run the Outer Drive/Grindley Park and Outer Drive/Monroe area. We desperately need some police presence to keep the speed down and enforce traffic laws, including the one that forbids a right hand turn on green if there is a pedestrian crossing!

Another intersection that is dangerous and just waiting for a serious accident to occur is at east bound Ford Road at Auto Club Drive. I am at that intersection 6-8 times a week coming from westbound Ford Road waiting for the light to change to cross Ford Road and enter Auto Club Drive. There is a traffic light there that motorists try to beat as they travel eastbound. I see them run that red light almost every morning, traveling at what seems to be in excess of 60 MPH. Somone is going to get killed or very seriously injured sooner or later. This intersection is almost identical to the crossover intersection at Ford Road and Golfview where there have been life-taking accidents in the past. Motorists treat Ford Road as if it is a freeway, often traveling 15-20 MPH in excess of the posted speed limits. If DPD wanted a revenue generator, this intersection would be a good start as well to write tickets galore.
