Divine Child Girls Track Named 2012 State Champs

The team last won the state championship in 2010.

The Divine Child girls track and field team has done it again.

At the 2012 Division II state finals Saturday at Houseman Field in Grand Rapids, the team took first place with 60 points.

DC's boys track team came in 30th in state finals with seven points.

Standout team members on the Lady Falcons were numerous. Among them, Paige Patterson took first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.91; and a team of Mallory Myler, Liz Mullen, Nicole Urbank and Paige Patterson won the 1,600-meter relay with a time of 3:59.05

Both teams finished with stellar seasons, sweeping the All-Area Track Meet, and regionals, in May. The girls team also won the Catholic League title on May 22. It's their fourth consecutive year with that title.

DC's boys track team won regionals in 2010, while the girls team won the state championship that same year. In 2011, the girls placed second in state finals.

Full team and individual results from finals are available on the Michigan High School Athletic Association website.
