Montessori Preschool Openings Available at Dearborn Schools
The program is run through Howe Elementary School in Dearborn.
Dearborn-area parents looking to enroll their child in a Montessori program have the opportunity through Dearborn Public Schools.
The district this week announced openings in their Montessori Preschool program for children 3 and 4 years of age. The program is run at Howe Elementary School, which is located at 18000 Oakwood Blvd. in Dearborn.
Annual tuition for residents of the district is $3,000; the non-resident price is $3,531 (10 percent discount for a second child). Tuition payments are due the first of each month and there is a non-refundable enrollment fee of $200 that covers registration, materials, and tuition applied to June bill.
Registration forms and tuition payments may be made through the Early Childhood Programs Office at the Child Development Center on the campus of Henry Ford Community College.
If parents have questions or would like to schedule a tour, they can do so by calling 313-317-6527.
Students who are residents of the district have the opportunity to continue their education in the free K-5 Montessori program offered by the Dearborn Public Schools at the Howe School site.
The Early Childhood program consists of highly educated professionals who are committed to helping young children grow and learn. The Montessori preschool staff are Montessori trained and certified and continue to expand their own learning through continuing education.
The Montessori method is both a philosophy of child growth and a rationale for guiding such growth, according to the district. It is based on the child's developmental needs for freedom within limits and a carefully prepared environment that guarantees exposure to materials and experiences which develop intelligence as well as physical and psychological abilities. It is designed to take full advantage of self-motivation and unique abilities of children.
