The Dearborn Public Schools Administrative Department is changing its hours of operation for the 2012 summer season, according to a release from the district.
Beginning Monday, June 25, the office will move to a 10-hour, 4-day work week schedule.
The Administrative Services Building will be open between 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
The building houses the offices of the superintendent, business services, communications, special education, and several other departments. It is located at 18700 Audette Street.
The summer operations schedule will be in effect through Aug. 16, 2012.

Wow! I didn't know administration pay was based on an hourly amount of time. It appears they now have Fridays off in the Summer on top of their vacation and sick days they can now accumulate much more easily. What was the cost-saving analysis behind this decision??
They are going to need to hire another administrator to walk around the halls at 5:29 pm to check on the others are still in their offices. My bet is that everyone leaves for official district business by 4:45.

We should be open more days, not less days. These folk are not producing a product, or parts, they are service folk, and that means providing service to the public 5 days a week, not four. Also, since the rest of the modern world is on year round education, and the USA is ranked anywhere from 14th to 28th with respect to 15 yr olds and education, (depends on the subject) shouldn't we lose the 'summer off for planting the crops' mentality and try and catch up with the rest of the planet? We are essentially letting millions of dollars of school buildings sit idle while our kids spend the summer forgetting most of what they have learned, needing a month or so in the fall to get 'refreshed' again. Obama is all excited about following the European model in other aspects of controlling our lives, but the teacher unions are not, and Obama needs the union support, so I guess he just flows with the support, caves in, and leaves our kids 'hanging on the clothsline' with respect to the rest of the world and education.
