Dearborn Police: We're Prepared for Terry Jones

Reponding to concerns of residents, the Dearborn Police Department released a message on Friday to the community regarding an upcoming planned protest by anti-Islam activist Terry Jones.
The Florida pastor, known for his demonstrations against Dearborn's Muslim community, has announced that he will return on Wednesday, Oct. 10, to stage a protest against "Muslim youth bullying" in front of Edsel Ford High School.

Here's Dearborn Chief of Police Ronald Haddad's message in full:
In response to several inquiries from concerned parents, community leaders and the media, Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad wants to reassure the community that his department is fully prepared to facilitate the peaceful and safe visit of Terry Jones to the Dearborn area while providing seamless public safety services to the 98,153 residents of Dearborn.
It is anticipated that Mr. Jones and a group of followers may engage in an event on public property near Edsel Ford High School between the hours of 1 p.m. - 4 p.m on Oct. 10. As has been done in the past, the Dearborn Police Department has coordinated a unified response with federal, state, county, and local law enforcement partners, and has been engaged with school, civic, and faith-based leaders in Dearborn
As of this time, it is anticipated that all Dearborn public and private schools will proceed with their normally scheduled educational activities and hours of operation on Wednesday, Oct. 10. These activities include the previously scheduled Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) testing of all grades 3-9 students enrolled in Dearborn Public Schools.
Despite the challenges presented by Mr. Jones’ previous visits, the Dearborn Police Department’s primary mission is to ensure that the 22,300 children attending Dearborn schools experience an uneventful, safe, and productive school day.
It is also important that those students previously scheduled to participate in the very important MEAP testing are able to do so without disruption.
The Dearborn Police Department is committed to providing outstanding public safety services to the City’s 200,000 daily visitors, 98,153 residents, and 22,300 students, as well as our responsibility that includes the protection of civil liberties and the United States Constitution.

Mr Jones if you were a real Christian you would not try to stir hate for our fellow brothers and sisters. Instead you would teach acceptance and understanding. If you knew anything about our diverse community you would see we are united in our love of family and community.

A group of African American students were being bullied by a gang of muslim students, they were being beaten and called the N word, they fought back and yelled racial remarks at the muslim students, after the fight the African American students were all expelled, even the ones who didn't yell anything, and the muslim students didn't even get in trouble, that is why pastor Jones is coming.

My daughter is an Edsel student who was in a conversation with one of the kids when it all started. She said it did not start over race and by the end of the day it consisted of every race. I will not get into details, because she was so close to the whole thing but I will say when she saw the article about Terry Jones coming here in regards to anti-Muslim bullying she was mad. She said it was not even started by an Arabic/Muslim kid. (And the initial kids that were involved, she is a different race then both) She has also told me how the school has put together a group of students to go around to each classroom on Tuesday re-iterating to them that they are ALL Edsel students, ALL residents of Dearborn and that is what is important. If Terry Jones does not like what we do in Dearborn, then stay away!! This city is a mixture of many races, and religions and we are all here because this is where we chose to be and raise or families. I hope these kids do show a united front. At first I debated whether or not to send my daughter to school that day and my honor roll student, is the one who said to me, that he wants some kind of reaction, by not us not going to school he is getting one.

When I moved to Dearborn, many people asked me, "Why?" What about Plymouth and Northville?" The answer is simple: I love Dearborn for its charm and its diversity. I didn't know many Muslims before moving here, but my life has been enriched by my many new friends and neighbors...of all creeds.
Let's not allow Mr. Jones or any others to bring hate into our midst. Let's keep on doing the things that we do...regular life with diversity! Teenagers will have quarrels and they will sometimes escalate. By not allowing hatred and xenophobia dictate how we treat our neighbors, we can lead by example…Besides, it is W.J.W.D!

It is ironic, Jones is basically a cult leader and bully who is coming to Dearborn to talk about bullying. It is clear Jones bullies Muslims to raise monies from ignorant people for a living. Maybe the press should ask why he was removed from his "pastorship" in Germany for psychological abuse of the membership and "creating a climate of control and fear."
