Dearborn Man Pleads Guilty in Basketball Shooting

Fadi Hassan Faraj has pleaded guilty to a second-degree murder charge in the death of Hassan Zeidan last year, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office.

A Dearborn man has pleaded guilty to a second-degree murder charge in a fatal shooting that occurred after an altercation during a basketball game last year.

reached a plea agreement Friday in the death of Hassan Zeidan on July 13, 2011, according to an email sent by Maria Miller of the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.

Zeidan, 23, of Dearborn, was shot and killed after a fight on the basketball court behind Riverside West Academy on Schaefer Road on July 13, 2011.

Faraj pleaded guilty with a sentence agreement of 23 to 45 years for the second-degree murder charge and two years mandatory consecutive for a felony firearm charge.

The sentencing hearing is scheduled for June 18 at 9 a.m.
