UPDATE: Dearborn Beauty Supply Owner Killed in Armed Robbery
The owner of east Dearborn-based Sunrise Beauty Supply was killed in a robbery at the store Tuesday morning.
An east Dearborn business owner was shot and killed in an armed robbery Tuesday morning at on Schaefer Road.
Dearborn police received a call at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday from someone who had come into the store. The caller also told police that the store has possibly been robbed and the owner was in need of medical attention.
The store owner was dead upon police arrival.

Approximately 80 Velvet-brand hair extensions were stolen from the store, said Dearborn Police Lt. Patricia Penman. Extensions can cost anywhere from $20 to more than $100 each.
Police are calling the incident a homicide and are still investigating the circumstances involving the owner's death.

“We have suspect descriptions from witnesses,” said Lt. Penman, although police would not divulge who the witnesses were.
Police said witnesses described two men and a woman involved in the crime. They say the woman was black with curly hair and was possibly the getaway driver of a silver, four-door vehicle–possibly a Ford Focus.
In addition, video has been discovered of at least one of the perpetrators—a black male between the ages of 20-25, 5 feet 10 inches tall with a thin build. He was wearing a green, waist-length hooded Green Bay Packers jacket, grey sweatpants, tan boots and a baseball hat.
“This appears to be a random and senseless crime that will be subjected to all our investigative resources,” Police Chief Ronald Haddad said in a statement.
Update, 9:15 p.m. Tuesday: Dearborn police released a composite sketch of one of the suspects in the crime. The man has what could be either tattoos or birthmarks above both eyebrows, as well as blotches on his cheeks.
Update, 5 p.m. Wednesday: Police have released the name of the victim of the shooting. Jay Shin was the owner of Sunrise Beauty Supply, and was shot to death in the Tuesday robbery.
They have also released a photo taken from surveillance video of a man they believe was involved in the robbery and murder.
