Crime Report: Woman Pulls Dine and Dash at Dearborn Bob Evans

The following information was supplied by the Dearborn Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The Bob Evans restaurant on Michigan Avenue in Dearborn fell victim to a hungry thief this week, according to Dearborn police reports.

An employee told police that on Friday, June 1, around 9 a.m., a woman ate a meal valued at $6.35, then walked out of the restaurant and headed eastbound on Michigan Avenue on foot. According to the report, she made no attempt to pay for her breakfast.

The woman was described as a heavy-set black female around the age of 30. Her hair was in black and gold braids, and she was wearing grey sweatpants and a black top.

Police attempted to locate the woman in the area, but were unsuccessful.

If the lady headed east , that means she was going toward Detroit. A seach shows that there are no Bob Evans in Detroit http://www.yellowpages.com/detroit-mi/bob-evans-restaurant
That may have confused the lady. How??
Perhaps some of the eateries in Detroit are 'pay if you can'. Should we give here the benefit of the doubt?

I think Jessica pegged it with Panera Cares. I was surprised at the high quality of food offered at panera.
Regarding leaving Dearborn,
With today's high speed travel, you can move out to the suburbs and still get hassled, plus, they don't have the business base to support any real services that you now take for granted in Dearborn, I had debated moving to Nothville or Plymouth years ago, but you are just trading one sort of problems for another, and everywhere you go, the govt will intrude someway , somehow. Even if you moved out onto a farm Linda, then your granddaughter would be exposed to animals having unprotected relationships, cows that need milking twice a day, and, when she asks where the Cheerios etc are grown, and can she 'pick' the boxes, then its time to really teach her some data about where food really comes from, and its not the 'box' stores. Just get your concealed weapons permit, only $100 for a class plus $103 to the county for a background check, then pick out a comfortable handgun and, when you leave the safety of Dearborn for the farmlands, you will be ready to defend yourself.

A $7.00 dollar meal was walked out on. This isn't the first time and sure won't be the last. Kids do it all the time as well as adults, in all different types of establishments.

The comment on Panera Cares, OUCH! The people who come into Panera Cares that need a hand up in their food insecurity situation, all respect our establishment and don't "dine and dash". Yes, if someone is low on cash or no cash at all they can come into Panera Cares and have a nice healthy meal and eat with some diginity. Thats the type of service we provide. We also have a number of executives, doctors, business owners, residents, non-residents, and political individuals visit our cafe daily. Panera Cares has opened up the doors to everyone and we have gained the respect and support of the community. If we didn't we wouldn't be there today.

As for leaving Dearborn, a lot of folks talk about it day in and day out on how horrible it is and how they hate this City. Those same people are the one's that bring the City down. Is Dearborn perfect, NO, not even close as you can tell by the investments made and misuse of money yearly. But to refer to people as "trash" is a very ignorant commment to make. Those very comments are what make a community as a whole look bad. But, like Lee said, where ever anyone decides to move there will always be problems and people others do not like. Thats life! A mature individual can learn to compromise/solve issues rather than lashing out with ignorant comments.
