Crime Report: Thieves Steal Cash, Drugs from Dearborn Pharmacy
The following information was supplied by the Dearborn Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.
A Dearborn pharmacy was robbed of more than just money on Wednesday morning, according to Dearborn police.
Dearborn Police Department officers responded to a breaking and entering call around 5 a.m. Wednesday morning at Sheba Pharmacy, located on West Vernor Highway.
Officers found that the security door and front door had been pried open, and that the cash register was on the floor and open, with bills spilling out.
The owner arrived and confirmed that around $700 cash had been stolen, as well as thousands of units of pharmaceutical drugs.
Stolen drugs included approximately 4,000 Vicodin; 3,000 Soma; 1,000 Lortab; 1,000 Lorcet; and 15 bottles of Prometh with codeine.
A surveillance video showed three suspects entering the store around 4:35 a.m. The three people–who could not be identified–ripped the alarm panel off of the wall and threw the cash register to the ground. It appeared that the suspects were wearing gloves, as no fingerprints were found.

These must have been druggies as leaving 'bills sticking out' of the register tray seems pretty inept thievery. I am surprised they could simply pry the door open.
Modern steel framed doors and deadbolts are pretty secure. When they took one of my 'old' steel doors out in a warehouse in Detroit last summer, it took (according to neighbors who were watching) the miscreats 20 minutes with sledgehammers to break the steel door and steel frame out of the cement walls. They stole some aluminum ladders and some radiatiors. Hard dishonest work for about $40 in metal scrap.
The police were called, but we are talking Detroit folks, so the door was almost replaced with a new one by the time they showed up about 3 hours later.
Bottom line, the new door is sledge hammer proof, and the drug store should get a better door to stop pry bars. Of course, the crooks were in a hurry as Dearborn police respond in minutes, not hours, so some sloppiness on the miscreat's part is to be expected. They were lucky the neighbors were not more vigilant and armed.
If the crooks were killed, would the neighbors be villified? In Dearborn, calling 911 is proper, but in Detroit, where it doesn't matter, what do you do when you see your neighbor's stuff stolen, and you are armed.? Reminds me of an armed guard in FL.

It's just a matter of time before these crooks get busted and put behind bars.

Our justice system has a few flaws, one being that if the crooks are caught and they are juvees, under 16 , they will just get a slap on the wrist and sent home. What worked the best was employing them, and training them as a gang to protect the workplace, worked great for many years in Detroit, then customers dwindled, and it was time to leave Detroit.
These robbers are probably kids, running around the neighborhood like a bunch of deer, fast and quick, I have seen them around 2:30 AM in packs, while I am out walking my cat, darting from car to car, checking to see if they are locked. Not too hard for them to check out a garage as well, mark it as a target, and hit it later in the night.
They run the other way when they see my cat, night moves and all....
