Crime Report: Man Tries to Return Stolen Items for Cash at Dearborn Store

A man unsuccessfully tried to pull a scheme to get cash from a Dearborn store last weekend, according to Dearborn police reports.
Employees of the Walgreens on Warren Avenue called police around 3 p.m. on Labor Day with a report of attempted theft. They told police that a man had taken items off of the shelves and attempted to return them for cash using discarded receipts.
Items he tried to return included laxative pills, Alli weight loss pills, and Aveeno lotion.
The man was denied a refund and left the the store without the items. Employees said they last saw him riding a dark-colored BMX bike southbound on Schaefer Road.
The man was described as a black male around the age of 25-30, appearing to be around 5-foot-9 and 190 pounds. He had a goatee, and was wearing a black T-shirt and black jeans with red, orange and yellow stripes on the pockets.
Police searched the area for the man unsuccessfully.
