Crime Report: Four Dearborn Home Invasions Reported in Past Week
The following information was supplied by the Dearborn Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.
Four Dearborn residents reported break-ins to their homes within the past week, according to Dearborn police reports.
Numerous items were stolen in the thefts, including laptops and jewelry–though one homeowner was lucky in that the would-be thief did not gain entry to his home.
That situation, on the 3800 block of Roosevelt, was brought to the attention of police when a family returned home from a six-day vacation on Saturday. The homeowner told police that their rear door had been heavily damaged, with clear signs that whoever did the damage was trying to get inside.
However, it appeared that entry was never made, because nothing was missing from the home.
On Thursday, Aug. 23, residents of the 5700 block of Jonathon told police that their home was broken into between 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The homeowners insisted that entry was gained through a bathroom window they found open, but police were unable to find any signs of entry there, such as footprints or a removed screen.
A gold necklace and $1,000 was missing from the home, according to the report.
The same day, residents of the 6100 block of Appoline reported a break-in to their home. The patriarch of the household had been gone all day, while his wife and three kids left around 12:30 p.m. Both parties returned around 5:45 p.m. and found that one of the bedroom windows was open. Stolen items reported included a Macbook Pro and $500 in silver jewelry.
A neighbor did report seeing a suspicious white Ford Fusion parked in the neighborhood around that time, but no suspects were located.
Also on Aug. 23, a resident of the 7800 block of Theisen left to run errands from 3-4:45 p.m., during which time his home was broken into, he told police.
Entry was apparently gained through a side door, and the upstairs of the house was ransacked. An HP laptop, several silver rings, and three watches had been taken.
