Crime Report: Dearborn Residents Warned of Rash of Garage Break-Ins

Recent thefts from garages have included lawn equipment and a motorcycle, according to Dearborn police reports.

 

A rash of garage break-ins in Dearborn has prompted police to issue an alert to residents.

According to the Dearborn Police Department, the majority of the break-ins have been in the northeast portion of the city. Suspects are forcing garage doors open and removing lawn equipment and other items during the overnight hours.

In one break-in on the 1000 block of Elizabeth on April 13, a resident found that his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and leather jacket had been stolen out of his garage. The motorcycle was worth $28,000.

Residents are reminded to keep their garages locked and utilize ambient lighting when possible. Police are also urging residents to check their locks and make sure that any outdoor lighting is functioning properly.
