Crime Report: Break-In at Dearborn Elementary School
The following information was supplied by the Dearborn Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.
A Dearborn elementary school was broken into recently, but nothing much was taken.
According to Dearborn police reports, the building engineer at Oakman Elementary School reported the break-in to police the morning of June 3 after he discovered that things were out of place in the cafeteria and kitchen of the school. Among other signs, he noted that food had been scattered in several places on the floor, while footprints were found on the kitchen sink.
A check with ADT found that the alarm at the school had been tripped on Saturday night around 11:19 p.m. An ADT guard checked the building at that time and found no suspects.
A report from the security company showed multiple alarm activations throughout the school–the first of which was at entry door No. 5.
The building engineer confirmed that door No. 5 is difficult to shut, and could possibly have been left loose.
A thorough inspection of the school found that the only things missing were a computer mouse and mouse pad.

That doesn't sound right.. Why risk going to jail over a mouse and a mouse pad?? I hope they throw all the food out, could be contaminated.. Just sounds really fishy, to me.

Kids are kids, probably got in ran around and did nothing. Just to be cool and said they did it. The whole mouse pad missing, someone probably took it home earlier that day or the day before. Happens all the time. I know a bunch of kids my age and myself that would of loved to be in the school after hours to just be cool for a day!

You may be right, Silvio. Truth be told, I got in trouble as a kid after my friends and I got caught climbing onto the roof of Haigh Elementary! But it was a slap on the wrist - not a police matter.
