Construction Alert: Southfield Freeway Work Continues

Check out the Dearborn Patch Commute Page for updates on accidents, construction and backups.

Construction on Interstate 94 and M-39 will affect Dearborn-area drivers this week according to the Michigan Department of Transportation.

On the Southfield Freeway (M-39), southbound traffic at I-94 will be reduced to one lane from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday for ongoing bridge work.

In addition, northbound M-39 ramps to both eastbound and westbound I-94 will close beginning at 7 p.m. Friday and ending on Thursday, Oct. 19, for ongoing bridge work. Ramp traffic is directed to follow northbound M-39 to westbound US-12 to access I-94.

On I-94, westbound traffic from Oakwood to Pelham will have two lanes closed from 10 p.m. Friday to  5 a.m. Monday for ongoing bridge work.

Meanwhile, in Detroit, eastbound I-94 will have two lanes closed from Michigan Avenue to I-96 from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday for bridge work. Westbound I-94 will have two lanes closed from Interstate 96 to Wyoming Avenue during the same time frame. There will intermittent 15-minute stoppages between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. so crews can set bridge beams.
