City to Hold Public Meeting on Greenway Trail Extension Effort

Resident input is sought on the city's grant application for the path.

The Dearborn Recreation Commission will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 13, on the city's grant application to the Michigan Department of Transportation for the Rouge River Greenway Path Extension.

The meeting, held at 7 p.m. in Club Room 1 of the , is open to the public. Residents are encouraged to attend to comment on the grant request.

The paved trail now runs from the parking lot east of Andiamo on Michigan Avenue, through the campuses of the and and onto the approach of the Hines Park bike path at Ford Road.

If approved, the grant would provide funds to continue the trail on an elevated walkway behind the Andiamo restaurant on Michigan Avenue, past the Dearborn Historical Museum and ending on the Brady Street bike lane. According to the city, the move would "enhance the lives of residents and visitors."

All improvements to be funded with this grant are proposed to be universally accessible.
