When Charlie arrived at the Dearborn Animal Shelter as a baby, he had severely infected eyes.
At four months old, Charlie is healed and being cared for in a foster home. He lost eyesight in his left eye from the infection, but it doesn't slow him down one bit.
His foster mom writes:
"Munchkin, as we like to call him, is an amazing little boy, full of personality and an adventurous spirit. He spends his days playing with toys, watching squirrels and lounging on his favorite chair. Munchkin is very affectionate and is always ready for cuddles. He especially loves to have his ears rubbed. That get his motor purring! Munchkin shares his foster home with other cats and dogs. He is very social and likes to play with all of his furry friends."
The adoption fee for an adult cat such as Charlie is currently $25. Adoption fees include a basic medical exam, behavior assessment, age-appropriate vaccinations, parasite and worm check, spay or neuter, microchip ID, travel box, cat comforter and cat care information. An optional, but recommended, combination feline AIDS and feline leukemia test (for cats 12 weeks and older) is an additional $20.
Adopters are also eligible for pet insurance from PetFirst HealthCare at an introductory price of $5 for the first month. The price includes accident and illness coverage with any veterinarian.
