Burglaries, Assaults Up in 2011 in Dearborn
The FBI's Crime in the United States report shows more than 4,000 crimes overall that were reported in Dearborn last year.
More than 4,000 crimes were reported in Dearborn in 2011, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation's recently released Crime in the United States report.
The statistics showed both ups and downs for the city, including a noticeable decrease in forcible rapes and robberies in 2011, but also a four-year trend of increases in aggravated assaults.
Property crimes in 2011—including burglary, larceny, car theft and arson—were up from 2010 (3,718 to 3,757), but trended down overall over the past four years.

The drop in property crime is attributed by the Dearborn Police Department to an increased focus on neighborhood watch tactics, as well as a department-wide efforts to combat home break-ins.
Police Chief Ronald Haddad has commented that much of what the department has to deal with are people who turn to crime in a bad economic situation.
“This is not the same crime situation that Dearborn had five years ago,” he said. “Law enforcement and public safety have never seen the issues we’re seeing right now. That’s why it’s so important to see why we continue to develop our police department.”
So far in 2012, statistics kept by the department showed a drop in crime from 2011.

Are there stats to show where the miscreants came from? Remember the 3 Detroiters who decided it was safer to rob unarmed Dearborn folks rather than get shot up trying to rob armed Detroit folks , who are rightfully armed as the Detroit police can't protect them as our own fine Dearborn Police do for us. In other words, is that the cause of the increase in crime.....easier targets, with us Dearborn folk being targeted.?

That's a good question, Lee. It would be hard to track that down, as different crimes would end up in different courts if/when someone was arrested, tried and found guilty. As you know, that can often take months to resolve, too.
I do know that of the three murders committed in Dearborn in 2011, two were committed by Dearborn residents. One was committed by Detroit residents - the robbery of Sunrise Beauty Supply and shooting death of the owner.
As for something like property crimes, that may be harder to follow up on, with thousands in the books.

Burglary and assault up, makes sense...poor folks want free stuff, a certain "segment" of our population is hot headed (just watch 'em drive), and we know they're in the majority 'cuz they all voted for obama.

I wonder how long it took you to come up with that thought?..I think creative driving in this city has been like this for a while....It all comes down to if there is no one to stop it then it will continue....Maybe we need to focus a little more on stopping people from being so creative....I am sure that they have creative driving in Texas...and the majority of Texans didn't vote for President Obama.
