Arab American Museum Offers Free Admission Saturday

The Dearborn attraction is taking part in Museum Day Live, presented by Smithsonian Media.

Dearborn's Arab American National Museum will be one of more than 1,400 participating venues taking part in the eighth annual Museum Day Live! event.

As a partner in the Smithsonian Media event, the AANM will offer free admission on Saturday, Sept. 29. The model follows the free admission policy of the Smithsonian Institution’s Washington, D.C.-based facilities, encourages learning and the spread of knowledge nationwide.

The mission of the program is to "make cultural education accessible to everyone," according to the AANM.

“As one of just a few Smithsonian Affiliate museums in Michigan, we take great pride in being part of this promotion,” says Devon Akmon, the AANM’s deputy director. “The Smithsonian Institution is a global jewel and we look forward to greeting some new AANM visitors by emulating its free admission policy."

The AANM includes both temporary and permanent exhibits, including a “hall of fame” featuring leading Arab Americans in politics, entertainment, science, sports, the arts and more.
