Scholarship Auditions for Youth Musicians

The Dearborn Symphony invites talented musicians to audition for music instruction scholarships.

Dearborn and Dearborn Heights public, private, or home school students who will be enrolled in grades eight to 12 for the 2011-12 school year are eligible. The music scholarships are intended to enhance the musical development of students who have demonstrated high musical achievement and wish to study advanced orchestral skills.

Last year, $6,950 was awarded in varying amounts up to $500 to be used for private lessons. Generous individual benefactors and trust funds along with contributions from American Association of University Women Dearborn Branch, Exchange Club of Dearborn, Fairlane Sunrise Rotary, Friends of the Dearborn Symphony-WADOS, Henry Ford Village Sunday Entertainment Committee, Kiwanis Club of Dearborn and Kiwanis Club of Dearborn Outer Drive provide the funds for the awards.

Auditions will be held on May 9. The deadline for applications is Friday, April 15. For more information, complete eligibility requirements and to download the application, please visit: www.dearbornsymphony.org or students may contact their school music instructor.
